Watches vs. Clocks
Have you ever been at work and someone approached you and asked you what time it was. Well this happens to me all the time at my job. I am constantly getting asked as to what the time is. I work at the food-court of a mall and there are no clocks to be seen. People walking by stop me and say:
“Excuse me do you have the time?”
I find it to be very frustrating because i am walking along trying to get my work done and i get stopped. Now if this were to only happen every so often it wouldntHasn’t everyone joined the revolution of that little thing called a watch. You can buy them in many shapes and colors and they are very fashionable. You can have the time right on your wrist what an invention it is let me tell you.
Now let me open this up to you, what are your thoughts on watches vs. clocks? Do you think that its frustrating to be constantly getting asked the time when your at work? Or has this ever happend to you while your out and about? Or is this just something that is going to happen from time to time and its not that big of a deal?

I personally don’t wear a watch, but I also am rarely asked for the time. I don’t really see a need to wear a watch though because I am almost always near my cell phone, a computer, and/or some other time-telling device. I can certainly see how it would get frustrated to be asked for the time multiple times per day. However, I think malls not having clocks is something to do with the same reasons there are not clocks or windows in casinos.

Why dont casinos have windows or clocks? I have never noticed that but come to think of it, you are right!

In the larger casinos, you will even see that they really divert the doors away from the main playing area. They do this so the people gambling cannot see the hours passing by (on the clock or out the window) and will continue to gamble.
While I cannot say for sure whether they do this or not, I’ve heard many people claim they also pump oxygen through the casino to keep people feeling fresh and ready to gamble.

I am always near my cellphone also but i need to wear my watch in case there is a time that i cant look at my phone for example when i am in a meeting or at church.

I think casinos dont have clocks because they dont want people to see how much time they have wasted in the casino. Then if they dont realize how much time they have wasted maybe they will stay longer and waste more of there hard earned money.

If I dont wear my watch, i feel almost naked. I have to have my watch on. Now as for looking to see what time it is, for some reason I look at my cellphone. lol weird, I know. I dont like to ask random people what time it is, i personally find that sorta rude. You are interrupting them.

I’m not one to wear a watch either, although I did just pick up a nice looking watch when we went to a wedding (paid a whopping $14 for it but it looks good). But as Nick mentioned, I almost always have my phone with me and would think that a lot of people are in that same boat.
With that said, I can appreciate the frustration of being asked for the time. Maybe you need to take a page from Flavor Flav and wear a big clock around your neck, lol.

Lol, it sounds silly but I stopped wearing a watch regularly as it always pulls the hair out on my wrist/arm and then I have a big bare spot there. As for my cheap watches, I find the discount watches at Kohl’s and will usually have one around in case I need it. The funny thing is that when I do wear one, I usually get a handful of compliments on it.
As for the clock around the neck, you might look silly but I’ll bet people will stop asking you for the time.
